Biography (Harriet Tubman)

In this post, I am going to answer several questions that were tasked and create a short bioraphy of Harriet Tubman.

So from the source that I have, mentions and explains all of Harriet Tubman's early life, achievements, and death. It also tells all about her values and what she fought for in her life.

So I got several points and lessons that is truly amazing about Harriet Tubman.  think what is amazing is that it teaches me to not be selfish. Harriet Tubman herself could have escaped on her own from slavery on the underground railroad. However, she went back and escaped together with her friends and families and risked her life so that everybody can escape.

There were also several valuable lessons that I got from Harriet Tubman. I learned that we should fight for our freedom. Just like Harriet Tubman made her own way to fight for her freedom using the underground railroad, we need to fight for our freedom and for our own sake, not anybody's sake. Also, like the last paragraph, it teaches me to not be selfish and always care for others.

Harriet Tubman was an African-American woman that was enslaved in Maryland, along with her families and friends. They were all very poorly treated by the white people who enslaved them, which is why Harriet Tubman has a lot of wounds that would later affect the rest of her life, including her own death. They were all distributed to different white people so they have to work separately from her family. So finally she decided to find her own freedom without her family as they were concerned for their bounty. But not long after that, she went back to Maryland along with her families and friends so they can all be free. She then joined John Brown, where together they wanted to destroy the institution of slavery. She then became an expedition leader to save more people from slavery. This is why she was called the "Moses" of her time. She eventually died at the age of 93 due to all her wounds from her early days when she was a slave, as she was constantly tortured, there were several permanent injuries that eventually caused her death.

English Procedure Text - Screen Recording On Laptop/PC Using QuickTime Player

So we were told to make a procedure text in the form of a video for our English task. We were free to choose whatever topics that we liked/ wanted to do.

So I picked a procedure text about screen recording. I know that this is a fairly easy task for most of us, especially teachers and students, and I don't think anyone has a problem with it. However, in this online study, I think that some assignments required the students and teachers to record their own screen and complete certain tasks.

I'm sure that there are more topics that are more interesting and harder. But I wanted to show people the best and simplest way of making a screen recording on a PC/Laptop. Since I think most people are already familiar with screen recording on their mobile phones, so I decided to make a procedure text about screen recording on a Laptop/PC.

In my experience, I really think that QuickTime Player is the simplest and best for making recordings, including other types of recording such as a movie recording, an audio recording, and a screen recording. The platform is easy enough to understand that I don't have to google how it works and so on. Not to mention that the features are only a few, so it wasn't really hard to understand the platform and using it. I don't know if there are any easier platforms out there, but in my several screen recording applications, QuickTime Player is the easiest.

Steps:
1. Download QuickTime Player if you don't have the app.
2. Open the app to see your downloaded or made videos and right-click if you want to record.
3. Choose the option that you want. Movie recording is to record like a camera, audio recording is for recording audio-only, and screen recording is for recording your screen.
4. You will see a small rectangle icon. Select the audio in which you want your voice to be recorded by clicking the down arrow. There are several options depending on your devices. Choose one that you want to record your voice from.
5. Click on the red circle button on the rectangle icon.
6. After that, click on the screen you want to record on. To make sure your screen has started recording, right-click on the QuickTime Player icon and you will see there is an option of "Stop Recording".
7. Right-click again if you have done your screen recording and select the "Stop Recording" button.
8. You will see a preview of the screen recording that you have just done. Click on the close button on the top-left edge of the preview and click save to save your screen recording, and delete to delete your screen recording. Make sure to rename your screen recording and place it on the spot where you can easily remember.
9. To find your screen recording, go to File Explorer or Finder and go to the place where you saved your screen recording.
10. If you want to insert it to a video editing software, press import media and select the screen recording in the place where you saved your screen recording.

Tips:
1. Make sure to make it simple. Don't complicate stuff and do what you don't have to do.
2. Don't make silly mistakes. Don't forget to save your screen recording, don't misclick, and so on.
3. Save your video in a place that you remember. If you don't, you might have a long time to find the screen recording again.
4. Always remember to title your video. If you are already familiar, you might find the screen recording just fine. However, if you are still new at this, and you don't know how to find the screen recording, or you have a lot of other files that are untitled, you might waste a lot of time to find the screen recording or maybe you cannot even find it. So remember, always name your file.

Nico's Weg

So in this post, I am going to write a review of a German film titled "Nico's Weg". This is a film which we are tasked to watch and make a review of.

So it all started with a person named Nico who has just arrived in Germany from Sevilla, Spain. However, just shortly after going out of the airport, Nico left his bag alone and a taxi driver mistook the bag for its customer. Then, a person named Lisa and her niece Emma saw him and decided to help Nico find his bag and find his aunt Yara. Just as he thought he had found the taxi driver who took his bag but turns out his bag wasn't there. Then they decided to call Lisa's dad who is a police officer to help them find Nico's bag. However, it is very hard to find his bag because all of his items are in his bag.

Throughout the long journey, Nico met many new friends like Sebastian, Nahwin, Nina, Max, Tarek, and many other people who helped him throughout his search for his bag. He bonded with all of these people and managed to have fun and bonding conversations through each one of them. He was really helped by these people by doing everything that they could to find his missing bag and her aunt Yara.

Finally, after the long search, Nico found his aunt's address and met her aunt Yara. He was also very lucky to find his bag which was a small chance, as it was just there by the side of the street.

There is a lot of moral stories from this movie. However, the one that struck me the most was to never give up and always help others. In the movie, Lisa and her friends decided to help Nico even though he was just a stranger to them and even helped him find his bag and his aunt Yara. It was also not an easy feat, as in the movie it was told that Nico didn't have any address or phone number to find any way to find his bag, but they still insisted on helping Nico until they found both his bag and his aunt Yara which was really inspiring for me.

In my opinion, this movie is very good for beginners like me who are learning German as the language is very simple and it has many variations of conversations throughout the whole movie. It teaches me to understand German culture, German language, German atmosphere, and so on. So for me, it was a very good and educational movie.

However, in my opinion, the movie itself was a little bit far fetched. There were many things that I was so confused about. For example, I don't think any stranger could just be taken into their house. It just seems unrealistic for me. I don't know if it's really true and it could really happen or if it was just for the sake of the movie. For me, it's just so rare to find people like that who would just take a stranger inside their house and even stayed there.

Also, for me, the plot was a little bit forced. What I mean is that there are several things in the movie that could have just been excluded and didn't have any significance to the plot or to the story. For example, the scene where Nico was cooking at Inge's house, where he also broke several dishes, that part was not important at all to the course of the movie.

My Goals My Ambitions

In this post, we were told to tell you about our future, including our passion, talent, strength, etc.

In the near future, I want to be a successful businessman. I've always liked the logic, the flow, and the impact of the economy and business to the world. I feel also that if I could study and become a successful businessman, I could understand everything about the economy in this world. I really liked it. I could understand more about the inner workings of something, especially if it relates to my hobby and interests. However, I feel that I didn't want to make economy a subject. Instead, I want to learn by myself and excite myself which is why I didn't take the social studies and instead took the science course.
Besides that, I always wanted to be a good chess player too. I think that I should strengthen my passion for chess. I don't want it to be official though. I just wanted to be good at a game that I really liked and master all of my passions and strengths. If I could do that then I probably could win a few tournaments maybe and win some of those. However, like I said before, I don't want chess to be my focus and main job in my future.
Another thing I wanted to be in my near future is to become a good cyclist too. Since I was small I've always liked cycling and that is my favorite hobby. However, just like chess, I don't want to pursue a career in cycling. I just want to be a good cyclist and cycle hundreds of miles everywhere I go.
I was just the type of person that just couldn't stop until I become a professional in whatever my passion is. I think that it's just my nature. So I hope that I could become a professional in my near future and become the best in all my passions, and not just a hobby.
Of course, I've always wanted to make my parents proud. I wanted to become a responsible man and to make my parents proud is just such a good thing for me to do. I hope that through all of my passions and careers I could give my parents happiness and easiness in their lives.

Giving and Asking Opinions

This week, we are tasked to make another dialogue but this time about opinions. So here is my dialogue.

Steven: Hello Chris. What's that on your phone?
Chris: Oh hi Steven. It's just a picture of a suit I'm considering. What do you think?
Steven: It's for the prom right? I think that suit is too colourful. It has a lot of colours and patterns which is not suitable for the prom. Do you have any other thoughts?
Chris: Actually I was thinking of this brown suit. What do you think?
Steven: In my opinion, that brown suit doesn't look that well in you. Why don't you try another one?
Chris: Well, I do have this casual black suit. What do you think?
Steven: I believe that black suits you well. I feel that it makes you look more manly.
Chris: Oh yeah. I think so too. Thanks, Steven.
Steven: You're welcome.

Offer and Suggestion

We are asked to make a dialogue including an offer and a suggestion using the topics our teacher has decided.

Max:   Hey, Steve. I saw you all by yourself, so I came here. Why do you look so serious?
Steve: Oh hey Max. I was just wondering about myself. You know we recently got our reports right?
Max:   Yeah. How was yours?
Steve: Well, I didn’t do so well in my subjects. Even though I tried hard to study, it just won’t stick in to my head.
Max:  Well. Um, did you try another method of learning, like using video perhaps? Or do you want me to lend you my notes?
Steve: It’s not the problem. It’s just that I feel like school is pointless. I don’t think that school is very useful to my career in the future. I’ve always wanted to be a professional musician. But in school there are no subjects related to serious and deep learning about music.
Max:  Well, I think that even though you wanted to be a musician, you must be educated enough to have the necessary knowledge before you start working.
Steve: Well, I guess you’re right. What do you want to be in the future?
Max:   Well I still don’t know. I like to think a lot though, using strategic and critical thinking to solve different kinds of problems.
Steve: Well since you helped me with my situation. May I suggest a job for you?
Max:   Oh yeah sure. What do you suggest?
Steve: I suggest you become an expert mathematician. You’ve always like math right?
Max:   Oh yeah. Why did I think so hard? Thanks a lot dude.

Story Telling-Tom Sawyer

Image result for tom sawyer book     Once upon a time, there lived a mischievous young orphan named Tom Sawyer. He was punished every time by his aunt named aunt Polly.

One day he fell in love with a new girl at his neighborhood called Becky Thatcher. But his love was crushed after being discovered him getting back to his ex, Amy Lawrence.

One day, he went to the graveyard with his friend, Huckleberry Finn, to perform a ritual, when they suddenly encountered three grave robbers, Muff Potter, Injun Joe and Dr. Robinson, who were in a quarrel. Both of them had a fight with Dr Robinson, who then knocked out Muff Potter, while Injun Joe killed Dr Robinson, but framed Muff Potter into killing Dr Robinson.

Tom and Huck saw the whole situation, and made a blood oath to never mention that situation, fearing Injun Joe's revenge. So, at the court Muff Potter was found guilty and was sent to prison, while Injun Joe was free from any sentence.

Tom grew bored of school, and eventually went to an isolated island along with his two friends Huckleberry Finn and Joe Harper, to live a free life. However, they became aware that the people at the city were searching for them and eventually surprised the citizens by coming to their own funeral.

At one of his trials, Tom eventually broke his blood oath and decides to speak to the court about the truth but unfortunately, Injun Joe managed to escape. Since then, Muff was freed and Tom was haunted by the thought of Injun Joe's revenge.

Summer arrives, Tom and Huck decided to go treasure hunting in a haunted house, when they discovered Injun Joe at the ground floor burying a treasure along with his companion. However, the villains have found themselves even greater treasure and decided to hid them on another place.

Image result for tom sawyer injun joe muff potter and dr robinson     One day, Huck spotted the villains and decided to follow them, while Tom went with his other friends to explore the McDougal's cave. Tom went with Becky but found themselves separated from their other classmates. They were lost but encountered themselves to Injun Joe, but was not spotted.
After some time, they found a way out and went back to the city. Becky's dad, judge Thatcher, soon ordered to seal the cave so no one would go back in there. Knowing that, Tom realized that Injun Joe was still in there, and finally opened the seal to find Injun Joe's corpse lying on the ground.
A week later, Tom and Huck figured that Injun Joe must have kept the treasure inside the cave, and eventually finds the treasure of Injun Joe. They split the treasure into two and soon they became rich and lived happily ever after.

Edu Passion

So last week, on the 23rd of January,  my school held an event called Edu Passion. It was held at our school which was followed by the students of both my school and other schools in Bandung, even some of their parents.
Edu Passion is an event in which students all over the city are shown all universities around the country in one place. The faculties include lots of variations, international, national, etc. In this event, we could visit all of the faculties that were shown as stands and ask them lots of questions about the universities and their details.
The event was separated into 2 different parts. From about 8 to 12 pm, all the participants of the event could look into almost 50 different faculties, universities, and different other stands which include courses, tutors, etc. This is the main event which was held for the entire time of the event and where most of the participants go to.
The other part of the event was a private seminar. These private seminars are held at different places and are divided into 2 sessions from about 12:30 up to 14:00. These seminars tell us the details of some of the majors at different faculties. These seminars help the students to understand even better about some of the famous majors in the country. This part of the event is most likely my favourite part of the event because we got to hear the different experiences from the alumni of my school and compare them to the universities and their majors.

We were asked to interview some people who went to the seminar. This is the recording.

My Last Holiday

In my last holiday, I went to Jakarta by train. It was a fun trip, since I rarely go by train. I went with my whole family together. Luckily, it wasn't a long journey, so we didn't get tired at all. It was a 2 hour long trip. As soon as we got there, we stayed in my dad's boarding house where he stayed every week to work. Then we finally we stayed there until the next morning.

The next day, we went to different malls and restaurants with my dad's friend together along with his son. We started the trip by Tuesday and we finally headed back home by Saturday. Everyday, we went to different restaurants and enjoyed many cuisines, some local and others even international.

Sadly, as soon as we got there, it was flooding in Jakarta, so we couldn't maximize the trip. Luckily, we didn't catch any of the water currents from the flood due to our higher area in Jakarta. But I just wished that we could have gotten more trips rather than just staying at the boarding house.

I was also glad to be there due to my 'PlayStation' being brought to Jakarta. I played lots of games including 'Fortnite', 'Spiderman', etc. I also played several multiplayer games together with my brother and my father. We had an awesome time playing the games that we had.

I was also grateful that none of us got sick during the holidays, increasing the trip's delicacy, all of us, including my dad's friend and his family. Everyday during my holiday in Jakarta, I got to spend a lot of time with my family while enjoying the delicious cuisines. It was one of my joys during the holiday. I also got to celebrate the New Year along with my family which was really fun.

We eventually came back to Bandung, but this time we used our car. We went back to Bandung together with my dad's friend and we stopped at several rest areas along the way back to Bandung. It was a very fun trip, mostly because I got to spend time with my family and because I got to play a lot of games everyday for the holidays.

Study Group

So we have an assignment to make an event of some sort. So I chose the easiest and basic for students, study group. I think study group is very important for students to learn from each better and better as well as getting closer to each other even more.
I was thinking so the event would be held in one of the student’s house. It would be held around 3 o’clock up to 6 o’clock in the afternoon. This is so the students could eat first before and eat again
after the study. The students don’t have to bring anything. Just bring their necessary books and exercise sheets so they can learn together.
I believe a group study is the most efficient way of studying. This is because students could learn from their friend even longer and having a relaxing time while studying. Another advantage is that learning from each other could increase the understanding of the lessons better. The language used by the teachers sometimes could be unclear or too fast. This will cause confusion in the students, slowing them down on their studies.

What is the event?
When is the event?
Where is it likely to be?
Why do you think it's necessary? How do you think we could improve this event?

Lions

Image result for lions
I don't know why, but I've always liked lions ever since I was a child.'The King Of The Jungle' is always my favourite animal. So which is why I would say that this animal is the best animal I've ever seen.
Characteristics
Lions(Panthera leo) is a vicious predator. So vicious that it got its name as 'The King Of The Jungle'. This animal is muscular, deep-chested cat with a short, rounded head, a reduced neck and round ears. Its fur varies in colour from light buff to silvery grey, yellowish red and dark brown. The colours of the underparts are generally lighter.

Habitat
Image result for lions in their habitat Typically, the lion inhabits grasslands and savannas but is absent in dense forests. It is usually more diurnal than other big cats, but when persecuted it adapts to being active at night and at twilight. In the Pleistocene, the lion ranged throughout Eurasia, Africa and North America but today it has been reduced to fragmented populations in Sub-Saharan Africa and one critically endangered population in western India. It has been listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List since 1996 because populations in African countries have declined by about 43% since the early 1990s. Lion populations are untenable outside designated protected areas. Although the cause of the decline is not fully understood, habitat loss and conflicts with humans are the greatest causes for concern.

Lions Life Cycle

A lion life cycle is different from many animals. First, they are a cub, then a young Lion, last they are an adult lion.

A Lion's life cycle is not very complicated. By the age of three male lions can leave their prides and create a new one. When a female lion is four years old, they can have up to six baby cubs. But usually, they have 3 or 4.

A male lion and a female lion’s life span are different. Males live up to 16 years but they usually live to 10 or 12 years. Female lions can live up to 18 years but, usually live to 12 or 13 years. You can tell after reading this people live longer than lions.

Magnus Carlsen

I really liked this guy because of his passion towards the game. He went out of school confidently just to go and experience some tournaments to hone his skills. He went on and on without stopping winning the world championships from 2013 and is winning ever since. I am also fan due to his abilities and skills even from when he was young. He was a prodigy ever since he was a teenager. I want to hone my skills too as a chess player and hopefully be as good as him and win many tournaments.

Carlsen Magnus (30238051906).jpg  You haven't heard of it, but I really liked chess. The game thrills me, teaching me how to make strategies to kill the king. It is a thrilling game yet simple with only a few rules. As some people know, chess has its own championship all around the world. As chess players around the world have known, chess legends such as Bobby Fischer, Garry Kasparov and Anatoly Karpov are amazing players that are so famous. But I really liked Magnus Carlsen.
Magnus Carlsen  is a Norwegian chess grandmaster and the current World Chess Champion. A chess prodigy, Carlsen tied for first place in the World U12 Chess Championship in 2002. Shortly after turning 13, he finished first in the C group of the Corus chess tournament, and earned the grandmaster title a few months later. At age 15, he won the Norwegian Chess Championship, and at 17, he finished joint first in the top group of Corus. He surpassed a rating of 2800 at age 18 and reached number one in the FIDE world rankings aged 19, becoming the youngest person ever to achieve those feats.

Sven Magnus Øen Carlsen was born on 30 November 1990 in Tønsberg, Vestfold, Norway. His parents, Sigrun Øen and Henrik Albert Carlsen, are engineers by profession. He started displaying his intellectual capabilities when he was still a toddler. At the age of two he could solve 50-piece jigsaw puzzles all by himself and proceeded to assemble Lego sets meant for much older children at the age of four. His father recognized the boy’s brilliance and competitive spirit and taught him to play chess. Carlsen became very fascinated with the game and played by himself for hours at a stretch. He also began reading books on chess which helped him in developing his game plan and skills. Blessed with a great memory, he soon developed into a formidable chess player despite his young age. He played in his first tournament—the youngest division of the 1999 Norwegian Chess Championship—at the age of eight. From 2000 to 2002, Carlsen played almost 300 rated tournament games, and in 2002 he finished second in the boys’ under-12 division at the Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE) World Youth Chess Championship, held in Iráklion, Greece.
Image result for magnus carlsen childhood playing chess Carlsen became World Chess Champion in 2013 by defeating Viswanathan Anand. In the following year, he retained his title against Anand, and won both the 2014 World Rapid Championship and World Blitz Championship, thus becoming the first player to hold all three titles simultaneously. He defended his classical world title against Sergey Karjakin in 2016, and against Fabiano Caruana in 2018.(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnus_Carlsen).

Malioboro Street

We have an assignment to write and present about a place/site. So, I and my friend chose Malioboro street.

Jalan Malioboro (English: Malioboro Street) is a major shopping street in YogyakartaIndonesia; the name is also used more generally for the neighborhood around the street. It lies north-south axis in the line between Yogyakarta Kraton and Mount Merapi. This is in itself is significant to many of the local population, the north-south orientation between the palace and the volcano being of importance.

Malioboro street is a wonderful place. Many tourists go there. This is because Malioboro street contains many unique crafts work and handmade from Yogyakarta. It is usually very crowded at night.

In Malioboro street, there is a mall called Malioboro mall. It is a three-storey mall that also contains many kinds of goods and crafts work made by the locals. The second and third floor mostly contains restaurants and shops we normally see in an ordinary mall but it also contains goods.

Besides the mall, there is a special food in the street called gudeg, which is a mixture of vegetables, but usually, people add their toppings such as chicken, meat, etc. This food is known all over Indonesia, but it is unique in Yogyakarta. This is a must-eat meal in Yogyakarta.
This street is very known all around the world. Its existence is well-known all around for its goods and unique crafts work from its locals. For me, this place is awesome and unique.

English Assignment: Compliment and Congratulation

Script:

Sandy  : Hi, why were you absent yesterday?
Samuel:  Oh yesterday, I joined a Mathematical International Olympiad in Jakarta.
Sandy  : Did you win the competition or not?
Samuel: Well, I encountered many strong rivals, but they were no match for me, so I easily got 1st place.
Sandy  : Wow! Congratulations on your win, but you cannot be too arrogant.
Samuel: Well thank you for the advice, but no thanks, cause I live with it.
Sandy  : Okay fine up to you then. I wish I could be like you winning every competition with ease.
Samuel: Well I could teach you, but just for reminder, you could never reach me, at my level.
Sandy  : Okay no problem as long as you teach me. It is enough for me
Samuel: Okay then
